Google Search grows 7%

During the month of October, 12.6 billion searches were conducted at home, work and universities, up seven percent on the September results. Yahoo led the way in growth, with a nine percent increase, to 2.6 billion searches, while Microsoft gained eight percent, to 1 billion searches.

Google saw a seven percent increase. Time Warner’s struggling AOL unit saw a decline of two percent in October.

Google retains a sizable share of the ever-growing US search market, at 63.1 percent, according to comScore. The company’s share grew last month by 0.2 percent.

Yahoo retained its number-two market-share position, with a market share of 20.5 percent, up by 0.3 percent. Microsoft’s market share was 8.5 percent.

AOL, however, not only saw its US search count decline last month but also its market share, which dipped 0.4 percent, according to comScore.
