Google Sites Expands to 37
Friday, October 24, 2008 10:54Google released “Google Sites” in May 2008, and the platform has been growing internationally among business, charities and organisations. The recent update has expanded the number of supported languages to 37, with the platform build around site templates provided and hosted by Google.
Google Sites is utilised for
- intranet to centralise company information
- team site to manage a project
- profile sites for individual resumes
- areas of expertise amongst team members
- company or business goals for the quarter
- virtual classrooms for assignments
- central location for class notes
- a perfect location for company resources
So far there have been around 1 million sites that have been built on the Google Sites platform. Companies can make best use of Google Sites by moving to a Google Apps Premier Edition. The advantage of upgrading to the Premier Edition is that business can brand and customise the site to suit their company image. They can also integrate YouTube clips, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Picasa albums and almost any file type.
How does Google Sites work with my broswer? Google sites automatically detect and display the preferred language set, but if you are working in more than one language you can set the language preference directly within Google Sites.
